So my PC finally crapped out and I decided to build a nice spangly new gaming setup. I've got a fancy new mobo that supports SATA 3, but have a nearly brand new 500gb SATA 1 drive sat in an external case that I was going to put in the new build. My question is, will it play nicely with the new SATA 3 ports? Also, if I use it will I see a drop in performance in real terms compared with SATA 2 or 3? I'm on a pretty tight budget and would rather put the money saved to a graphics card.
