What is this mystery image from a TV broadcast?

Hi all,

Apologies if this isn't the right place for this, but I've got a mystery that I'd love to solve, and this just might be the place to find someone who can help.

On Saturday night in the UK, an episode of the appropriately named Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway was broadcast. It's a live entertainment show, and the final shot was one from a camera swooping over the cheering audience.

I noticed what appeared to be an overlaid image - it's hard to explain the effect exactly, but from viewing some admittedly poor quality captures, it appears that there was an image mask superimposing a delayed video (2 or 3 frames delayed). This makes the image particularly hard to interpret, but thanks to someone capturing some video from a repeat (which did not show the image), I was able to do some CSI magic and come up with this:

The communist/socialist imagery has been noted by some. I have my own interpretation of the central dark shape, but I don't want to influence anyone trying to interpret it for themselves.

So, the big question: does anyone recognise the image?

The channel it was broadcast on (ITV) has multiple broadcast regions in the UK, and this was present on at least three of them (so probably all). But it wasn't present on the HD version of the channel.

Thanks,

David
