Horrors of human settlements on ther planets and moons

In my opinion the concept of a 20000 person colony on Mars is a bad one. There should be many tests and experiments before humans can settle on Mars and the Moons of Jupiter and Saturn.

Weak gravity may retard developement in human children. The Martian sand is so fine that it would damage machinery and crop failures would mean the colony would fail in disasterous ways.

Add unknown dangers into the mix and a large human colony at this stage of technology would be a disaster.

Even if the colony was successful who would want to live on Mars? A scientific colony yes a big colony no. Not right now or in the foreseeable future.
