Pompous or pulpit ?

Dr. Kent Brantly, doctor who contracted the ebola virus, has decided to "thank god for saving his life". As a human being I'm becoming quite furious over people thanking "god" for curing them of illnesses. It's never the scientists, researchers or doctors who actually provided the cure and/or treatment. What of the people who have perished from this awful disease? Were they not good or lucky enough for "god" to save them? It's the pure arrogance of these people that really get me. Does he really think he would have survived with "god's help" if he had stayed in Africa without treatment? I guess the dying aren't good enough for the plane flight. Maybe he should thank the pilot also.
