Did Obama Play this Well?

I've had to reevaluate my views on Obama's political game. Did he know the Senate was a lost cause? This immigration action was a grandmaster move. It shores up Hispanic support for Obama's successor in 2016, alienates the Hispanic from the GOP even further, and has (had) the chance to push the GOP into doing something suicidally stupid, like an impeachment or government shut down (although that doesn't seem likely, at this point).

While it doesn't look the GOP is going to fall into THAT trap, it is doubtful if Boehner can reign in his caucus and get some meaningful immigration reform out of the House that the GOP Senate can live with.

I'm not holding my breath on the GOP pushing anything out of the House (other than another meaningless lawsuit), and in the meantime, the Dems lock up a huge percentage of the Hispanic vote through Obama's executive action. Obama's even got some good polling data for what he did: http://ift.tt/1vAWu1M

A masterstroke, or just another lucky break for Obama?

And putting politics aside, this was the right thing to do. This is America. We don't break up families or deport kids who were brought here illegally when they were two years old. For a supposedly Christian party, the GOP sure are looking cruel and vindictive.

Either way you look at it, Obama scores first blood.
