Human Rights of Decency

Over on this thread, one "logger" responded to a post I made about humans having the rights to decent housing, food, clothing, etc:

Funny, I have never been offered those rights, seems I've been busy paying for others to have those items.

This was logger's response:

Yes. You have. It's called the US Constitution:

Quote:

Amendment X

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

The Tenth Amendment exists, because it was argued by the Federalists that any power not delegated to the federal government, is reserve red for the states, or the people.

Then you have the 16th Amendment:

Quote:

Article I, Section 8, Clause 1:

The Congress shall have Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States.

You also have the long-standing tradition of treaties signed by the President and ratified by Congress, to become the law of the land.

We are a part of major international bodies, such as the UN and the Geneva Conventions, which specifies basic human rights.
