Entertaining Apps for Android

I've enjoyed the evolution of cellphones since they very first arrived on the mass market, having had one since 1988, as one of the first couple of thousand mobile owners in NZ.

I use a Samsung Android and find it most excellent for whiling away dead time: airport lounges, planes, inbetween meetings, etc.

I use all the good news apps that interest me, but I prefer to have a game or two.

On my metric of Defender, Donkey Kong and Pacman, every game I see being sold is rubbish. Adventure games do nothing for me, and I cannot seem to find either an App or game that is capable of entertaining me for more than a few minutes.

Shooting games are boring on Android - why would I play on a 5" screen when I can play it later on 23"? (I play Aces High flying a Sopwith Camel on the 23" in surround theatre sound.)

There's a solar system app that is fun for about 5 minutes...

I nearly liked Red Bull Air Race - love the actual RBAR! - but it was too invasive by miles for my liking. I do a lot of business on the phone and won't download spyware-embedded games.

Can anyone recommend something? Don't care how much it costs. I spent the then-enormous sum of $15 for a King Kong game based on Peter Jackson's film of the same name about the turn of the century and it was better than anything I've seen since.*

I think the only game I've had more than a week's worth of entertainment is a very good, excellent graphics mini-golf game, but once mastered at all levels is a bit boring, although I haven't deleted it yet.

I spent an hour going through every top-grossing and top-rated App and Game at Google Play this morning and saw nothing that made my Buy Now finger even twitch.

*I have kids of 12, 15 and 24, so there aren't any mainstream games I won't already know.
