I've become increasingly fascinated with the conservative meme that allowing gay marriage will lead to Christianity becoming illegal. Dobson, Mat Staver, Tony Perkins and Bryan Fischer have all been ramping up their rhetoric lately as it becomes ever more likely that the Supreme Court will make that evil, evil nasty gay marriage thing legal. And a huge part of their message is that gay marriage is the first step towards outlawing Christianity and that attempting this might lead to civil war and lots of bad war killing thingies (aka massacres).
I just don't get the logic here. How does one lead to the other? How twisted is your thinking when you think the point of allowing gay marriage isn't to let people in love get married but to destroy your religion?
It is like these people never have stopped to consider that maybe, just maybe Christianity and gay marriage can coexist. Sort of like how it does in numerous other nations. I've yet to hear of any Christians being herded onto boxcars in any of them.
Yes, because we all know how being friendly to gays and mean to Christians was at the core of Nazi beliefs.
