Is Human Evolution at an End?

I've been wondering about this for awhile. Beginning in the late 1800s we began actively and effectively fighting disease via induced immunity (vaccination). Now, we're talking about wiping out cancer, and even engineering DNA to eradicate tendencies towards various illnesses. In short, I'm wondering whether modern science is robbing humanity of the opportunity to adapt. Natural Selection needs time and opportunity. Are we heading for a future where a First World society is defined as one populated by the products of "Artificial Selection?"

Oh crap!
