My current situation with my laptop (dead screen, all else still running fine, usable with a separate monitor through HDMI) caused me to ponder this. I'm only really using the bottom section of the laptop: everything but the monitor. But if I want to plug it in to a separate monitor, the built-in one is in the way, obstructing the view. So why don't they sell something that's essentially the bottom section of a laptop?: everything a computer needs minus the monitor, to be connected to whatever monitor/TV/projector you want wherever you want?
