The Full Moon will occult (cover) the first magnitude star Aldebaran in Taurus for observers in the northern half of North America during the predawn hours of Thanksgiving Thursday 2015 NOV 26.
Immersion will occur on the lunar bright limb and emersion on the dark limb of a Moon just beginning to wane during the hours after maximum fullness. The southern graze path will cross the USA from the Oregon-California border to South Carolina. That will include passage through the Salt Lake City and Denver areas. The nominally “northern” graze path will be across the North Pole in Siberia. Observers on a graze path will witness the star winking on and off as lunar hills and valleys pass by. Observers between the two graze paths will see a full occultation.
