Support the Campaign for Rational Veterinary Medicine

"Two new campaigns which call on the veterinary profession to unite against the practice of homeopathy have been launched this week.

Both campaigns raise concerns about the ethics of veterinary surgeons using irrational, unscientific and ineffective remedies to treat ill animals or in place of conventional vaccinations.

The Campaign For Rational Veterinary Medicine presents the case against homeopathy on a new microsite, and asks the profession to unite around a call for the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons to issue a public position statement that homeopathy is ineffective in animals, bringing it into line with the NHS, the findings of the British government's own review of homeopathy, and the BVA."

Veterinary homeopaths are under fire from the UK veterinary profession and calls are being made to the UK veterinary governing body, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), to come off the fence and declare its position on the ethics of homeopathy.

Coincidentally two campaigns have been launched at the same time, each with a petition to sign to indicate the strength of feeling on the subject.

One petition (change.org) is open to everyone and calls for a ban on UK veterinary surgeons being able to practice homeopathy - please sign by clicking this link.

The second is the Campaign for Rational Veterinary Medicine - full details can be found by clicking this link. The CRVM calls for a position statement from RCVS declaring the use of homeopathy as unethical when used as a first-line treatment. A petition supporting this aim is open for any veterinary surgeons to sign and can be found by clicking this link (nb you will have to register with vetsurgeon.org first -it's free!).

Please help support these campaigns and help us speak up for animals as patients who have no say in whatever treatment their owners decide to inflict on them.

Many thanks in advance,

Niall
