Tis the season to lie to your kids

Last year when I argued that it's not a good idea to lie to kids that Santa is actually real I was met with a barrage of sometimes unpleasant accusations of “You will ruin their Christmas”, “You will spoiling their childhood”, “etc” responses from a surprising number of otherwise sceptical members that spend much of their time telling others that it's not a good isea to lie to your kids that a god is actually real or any other lies. Seems “Santa is actually real” is a sacred cow lie for these people. Wonder how my argument will be received this year.

Here a few points to back my argument (there are more) . . .

(1) Kids don't enjoy Christmas any less by knowing Santa is a fantasy character.

(2) Pro “Santa is actually real” adults seem to enjoy Christmas less when their kids know Santa is a fantasy character.

(3) Kids that believe Santa is actually real aren't enjoying a fantasy, they're believing that a lie is the truth.

(4) Kids that know Santa is a fantasy character and enjoy Christmas are enjoying a fantasy.

Feel free to add to this list if you agree with me.

If you disagree I wellcome a list supporting your counter argument.
