Poor Donald. He is being widely held to task for supporting a tracking registry of American Muslims. The day after voicing support for the notion he claimed that it was a reporter's idea, not his, but he seems to support it anyway. And at a rally in Alabama he offered his reasons:
"I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down, and I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down,” he said.
I can't find any evidence of any public cheering in New Jersey on 9-11, just outpouring of support for the victims. But maybe the Donald was hanging around some radical Islam rallies with many thousands in attendance in Jersey City that day, and the police discounting the story weren't aware of the rallies. It's that or he was hallucinating. Or possibly lying to make some political point. He doubled down on the lie on the George Stephanopoulos show today.
