Police and psychics

So I was watching an episode on Investigative Discovery. I hadn't payed much attention at first, but believe it was about the vanished and assumed murder of a young woman and the case had gone cold for a few years. The mother of the victim heard about a man. He didn't call himself psychic, didn't promote himself, didn't charge people money, hadn't been on TV or performed.

The mother was desperate and frustrated. The police had no interest in the psychic, and rightfully stayed with the small amount of evidence they had, but were stuck.

Allegedly, the mother received from the man detailed information, such as make and model of the vehicle, a name, place of the murder, evidence that would be found.

At that point I was interrupted and was half listening. But, long story shortened, the man was accurate and the case was solved. He was then vetted by police but had no connection to the kidnap/murder. Huh? Why wouldn't something like that made more public? It had always been my belief that, in spite of so-called psychics making up bs stories to take credit, none had ever solved an actual case.

Has anyone ever heard of a person claiming to have psychic ability actually giving police information that solved ANY crime?
