After Trump

Having petrified pseudodemocracy with eternal duopoly of two parties sharing power in endless circle of elections where your vote matters only in so-called swing states* is strong hint that USA political system is deeply flawed.

Of course, something must give in sooner or latter. Enter Trump. Trump is not cause, it is result of endemic problems with USA's political system, some of them in works already for hundreds years.

In other words, even if Hillary wins, it will not be end of madness. Why?

I really doubt that neccessary reforms of political system in USA will be done (like throwing electoral college into trash bin, eliminating gerrymandering, changing voting system to something that actually allows third parties to be in goverment or having president etc)**. Both democrats and republicans would gain nothing from it and they will oppose it as much as possible, making these reforms impossible both theoretically and in practice to implement. In fact, I think some changes would require changing/amending USA Constitution. Good luck with that.

So in 8 years we will get more of same, possibly even more extreme and violent. Not neccessairly from Trump, but from similiar authoritanian figure. After all, if Trump loses 2016 elections, Trumpists will not vanish into thin air. They will still exist and search for someone else.

Barring significant changes (like abovementioned reforms), sooner or latter it all will blew up pretty spectacularly. I just hope (in vain) it will happen after I die of old age.

* In fact, mere existence of "swing states" term shows how it is rotten to core.
** In that respect, Obama failed to bring change. Of course, that was Mission Impossible anyway...
