Today, comes a report from Leonie Pihama, the highly respected Associate Professor of Maori and Indigenous Studies at the prestigious (World ranking 338) Waikato University, which finally identifies the cause of all indigenous people's problems, including their horrific child abuse statistics.

What really sickens me about this kind of **** is that it deflects from the problem and never raises a clue about how to improve the situation.

2000 years ago - long before Maori came to NZ - Julius Caesar wrote "Alia iacta est". The die has been cast. You can't go back and undo bad things - go ask a Jew!
There might even be an element of truth in the idea that forced assimilation of another culture is detrimental in the long term, but it's an idiotic statement that does nothing to improve the situation.
In NZ, Maori have had more help in allowing them to self-determine their path than any other culture, mainly to having never actually been conquered. The "Prof's" own region boasts the mighty Tainui Iwi, alone currently holding assets to the value of $1.3 bn as of 2014. (80,000 members) Total Iwi assets are up around $10 bn these days.
We have guaranteed Maori representation in Parliament and local bodies, have given them enormous tracts of land and huge packets of cash, and even a form of their own justice system.
But it's all our fault.
I think I shall go and buy a Wailing Wall.
