The incident happened this past October, on the California Zephyr. The train's engineer noticed some uncommanded braking, and a search of the tailing engine found a heavily armed suspect tampering with the train's controls. He was restrained by the train crew and arrested, and originally charged with felony criminal mischief; but a subsequent FBI search of his home turned up a substantial weapon and ammunition supply, white supremacist and Nazi paraphernalia, and other evidence that suggested to them the train incident was the beginning of what was intended to be a terrorist attack.
