Not supporting an industry and ethics

So if one personally boycotts an industry, are they obligated to care whether that industry is doing well?

For example, if a person supports conservation and reintroduction of large carnivores and as a consumer chooses not to eat beef products because of the conflicts between ranchers and the carnivores, then are they obligated to care about whatever damage the animals could do to livestock?
